Bahrain's 1 Dinar was reissued in this series as part of the Central Bank's broader redesign program that also introduced polymer substrates for lower denominations — the 1 Dinar itself remained on cotton, a deliberate choice given the denomination's high transaction frequency and the established preferences of Gulf cash handlers.
The optically variable ink on this issue uses a color-shift element developed to counter the sophisticated counterfeiting operations that had previously targeted GCC currencies in the 2000s and 2010s, including several operations that specifically exploited the older Bahraini series.
