Obverse description Central field bears the Shahada inscription in two lines of Arabic script, reading 'There is no god but Allah / Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah', enclosed within a beaded or wreathed border. The Islamic Hijri date 1352 appears below the religious legend, also in Arabic numerals. The design is contained within a circular olive or laurel wreath, typical of fantasy coinage of the period. The overall composition is symmetrical and austere, with no figural imagery in keeping with Islamic numismatic tradition.
