| 裏面の説明 | Central field features a vivid color-printed composition depicting a large sea turtle swimming to the left amid a richly detailed coral reef scene. Tropical fish of various species, including angelfish and parrotfish, populate the surrounding waters, while colorful corals, sea grasses, and a red starfish adorn the sandy seabed below. The curved legend 'MARINE - LIFE PROTECTION' arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, set against a dark polished surround. |

Palau began issuing dollar coins almost immediately after establishing its own currency following the Compact of Free Association with the United States, which came into full effect in 1994. The marine conservation series, of which this piece is a part, was produced largely for the collector market — Palau has no meaningful domestic coin circulation, and these issues were sold directly to overseas buyers and numismatic distributors from the outset.
KM#30 is copper-nickel rather than silver, placing it in the more affordable tier of the series.
