| Reverse description | The reverse features a bold, high-relief left-facing bust of Athena, goddess of wisdom, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a laurel branch at the visor. Her flowing hair cascades beneath the helmet in elegant curls, visible at the nape of the neck. The design is inspired by classical Athenian coinage, reflecting the neoclassical artistic programme of the Hellenic Republic's coinage. The engraver's signature GILLIERON FILS is incised in small Latin letters along the lower right field. The field is otherwise unadorned, allowing the sculptural quality of the effigy to dominate. |
