1 Ducat - Aleksandar I Pattern

Pattern ducats of interwar Yugoslavia are poorly documented, and the Schlumberger reference remains the primary authority on these issues. This piece was struck under Aleksandar I during the period of his personal dictatorship, established in January 1929 when he abolished the constitution and dissolved parliament. Whether this pattern was seriously considered for circulation or produced purely as a presentation piece is not settled — Yugoslav gold coinage of this period had an erratic relationship with actual monetary use.

The .986 fineness follows the traditional ducat standard unchanged since the Habsburg era.
