Obverse description Within a continuous beaded border, the flat unadorned field bears a two-line inscription in Lontara script reading 'Land of Bugis,' denoting the issuing territory of this emergency coinage. Below the Lontara legend, the Hijri year 1250 is rendered in Western Arabic numerals. The design is entirely typographic, devoid of figurative imagery or ornamental devices beyond the peripheral bead border. The simplicity of the layout reflects the utilitarian, locally produced character of the issue.
