Dezful, a city on the Dez River in Khuzestan, periodically issued anonymous copper fulus outside the formal imperial mint system — small-scale civic or commercial coinage produced to fill a chronic shortage of low-denomination exchange currency that the central authorities rarely bothered to supply in copper. The anonymity is typical of such issues: no caliph, no governor, no regnal date, which makes precise attribution to a specific political moment nearly impossible without die linkage studies.
