| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a prancing horse depicted in profile facing right, rendered in low relief in a stylised manner characteristic of early Islamic provincial coinage. The animal is shown with raised forelegs and a flowing tail, set above a decorative crescent or lunette motif. A border of raised pellets encircles the lower portion of the design, framing the central device. The field above the horse is largely plain with traces of additional decorative elements near the rim. The overall execution is bold but irregular, consistent with hammered copper coinage of the Tabaristan region. |
