| 裏面の説明 | A crowned shield of Reval bearing a cross, centrally placed within a beaded inner circle. The shield displays the arms of the city surmounted by a prominent royal crown with clearly defined arches and balls. The date 61 (for 1561) appears in the legend field, flanked by pellet stops, with the full mint legend distributed around the periphery in Latin capitals. The die work reflects the typical style of Reval municipal coinage of the period. |

Reval's civic coinage of this period occupied an awkward political moment: the city had just placed itself under Swedish protection in 1561, ending decades of Livonian Order rule as the entire region fractured under pressure from Ivan the Terrible's ongoing Livonian War. Eric XIV, newly crowned King of Sweden, moved quickly to assert authority over his new Baltic acquisition, and the city's mint responded by incorporating the royal crown into the ferding type — a direct visual signal of the new political arrangement rather than continuity with earlier Hanseatic municipal issues.
