| 表面の説明 | The obverse is printed in black letterpress with red intaglio accents on a cream paper ground. A central oval vignette carries the large denomination numeral '1' and text 'UN FRANC' in bold red lettering, encircled by an elaborate acanthus-leaf and fruit garland. The Monegasque coat of arms — a lozenge-patterned shield surmounted by a princely crown — appears at the foot of the vignette, flanked by two facsimile signatures, while the legislative and sovereign decree dates of March 1920 are inscribed in the upper left and right corners respectively. |

Monaco's Trésorerie Générale issued these small-denomination emergency notes in response to the acute coin shortage that gripped much of Europe during and after the First World War. Printed locally by the Veuve A. Chêne press rather than shipped to a major security printer in Paris, the entire production stayed within the Principality — unusual for a note of this period from such a small issuer.
The Série B designation distinguishes this run from the earlier Série A release of the same denomination. Albert Berthe's engraving work gives the note a quality above what one might expect from a wartime emergency fractional.
