| Obverse description | Four archaic Chinese characters cast in relief around a central round hole, reading 共屯赤金 (Gong Tun Chi Jin), arranged in the four quadrants of the field. The inscription, rendered in the angular Zhou-period seal script style characteristic of the State of Wei, translates as 'pure fine copper cast at Gong.' The coin displays a slightly convex profile with gently sloping surfaces, and the entire obverse is covered in a deep green patina consistent with ancient burial. The casting is bold and deliberate, with the characters occupying the full available field between the central perforation and the outer rim. |
