Obverse description Central field features the heraldic coat of arms of the British East India Company, comprising a quartered shield supported by two rampant lions, each grasping a flagstaff bearing a pennant. A crested helm surmounted by a lion passant appears above the shield. A scrolled ribbon below the shield bears the Latin legend AUSP : REGIS & SENAT : ANG. The arc legend EAST INDIA COMPANY curves along the upper periphery, while the date 1804 appears prominently in the lower field beneath the coat of arms.
