| Obverse description | Central field features a balance scale suspended from a vertical staff, the beam horizontal with hanging pans visible on each side, symbolizing justice. The Arabic word for justice (عدل) appears in the central field, with the AH date 1258 inscribed below in large Arabic-Eastern numerals. The design is rendered in a bold, naive engraving style typical of provincial Hadhrami coinage of the period. |
