| Rückseitenbeschreibung | The central vignette, set within an oval frame, presents a panoramic intaglio view of old Tbilisi with its characteristic churches, fortifications, and hillside architecture beneath a clouded sky. To the right of the oval, a stylized deer taken from a painting by Niko Pirosmanashvili stands in full figure. A guilloche rosette appears at lower center-left, with the denomination numeral at lower right and the inscription 'Georgia. One Lari' along the bottom. |

| Anmerkungen |
Georgia's first post-Soviet currency, the lari, replaced the interim coupon (kupon) in 1995 after hyperinflation had rendered the coupon essentially worthless — at its worst, the exchange rate against the dollar ran into the tens of thousands. The 1999 dated 1 Lari belongs to the founding series and was printed by the German Federal Printing Office (Bundesdruckerei) in Berlin, which handled the early lari issues while the National Bank of Georgia had yet to establish its own production infrastructure.
Security provision on this denomination is modest relative to higher values in the same series — a single thread and watermark, without the foil or color-shifting elements applied to the 50 and 100 Lari notes.
