| Obverse description | Hammered silver flan of irregular round form bearing a two-line Arabic legend divided by a horizontal rule across the field. The upper register carries the name 'Iskandar' in bold cursive Arabic script, while the lower register reads 'Struck in Malé,' identifying both the sultan and the mint of issue. The lettering is rendered in the florid style typical of Maldivian hammered coinage of the late seventeenth century, with no pictorial devices. The field shows natural die flow and surface irregularities characteristic of hand-struck Islamic silver. |
