Aanvullende informatie

Romania's monetary system was still taking shape in the early 1870s, with the newly codified leu struggling to establish itself against the foreign coins — particularly Ottoman and Austrian pieces — that continued to dominate everyday transactions. This 1872 pattern was part of the broader effort to define a national coinage before production contracts were finalized with foreign mints. Patterns from this period were struck in very limited numbers, primarily for official review and approval rather than any intended release.

KM# Pn1 places this among the earliest documented Romanian pattern issues.
