| Aanvullende informatie |
Seborga's claim to sovereignty rests on a disputed 1079 deed and the 1963 self-proclamation of Giorgio Carbone as Giorgio I — a flower grower elected prince by the village. The luigino denomination revives a 17th-century Ligurian silver coin originally struck for trade in the Levant, here reissued purely as a symbolic assertion of Seborga's self-declared independence from Italy, which Rome has never formally recognized.
