备注

Macedonia's 1991 independence from Yugoslavia required an immediate transitional currency before the denar could be formally established. The makedonka series — issued by Infopress Skopje rather than a conventional central bank — was a stopgap, circulating briefly before the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia assumed monetary authority. The choice of BA International in Ottawa was practical: Canadian Bank Note and its associated firms had long served new and transitional states needing secure printing on short notice and without political entanglement.

The makedonka lasted less than two years in circulation. Collectors should note that the Infopress attribution makes this one of the very few modern European circulating notes issued by a printing and publishing house rather than a state bank or finance ministry.
