Puck — a small Baltic port town — found itself in a peculiar administrative limbo in early 1920. The Paris Peace Conference had assigned the region to the newly reconstituted Polish state, but the formal transfer of Pomerania from Germany was still being negotiated on the ground. Local municipalities across the area issued their own emergency notes during this interval precisely because neither German nor Polish currency infrastructure had stabilized sufficiently to meet everyday demand.

These Magistrat-issued notgeld pieces from Puck are among the more obscure Polish municipal emissions of the period, and surviving examples in any condition are rarely offered outside regional Polish auctions.
