1 Millieme

Libya's 1965 coinage was among the last issued under King Idris before the September 1969 coup that brought Muammar Gaddafi to power and abolished the monarchy entirely. The millieme denominations saw relatively limited circulation in practice — Libya's oil revenues were rapidly modernizing the economy, and the lowest fractional coins were already becoming economically marginal by the mid-1960s. Surviving examples in uncirculated condition are not unusual for exactly that reason.
