| Reverse description | Reverse displays a bold cruciform Devanagari legend radiating from a central circular medallion, which contains a stylised sword or dagger motif flanked by small ornamental dots. The four arms of the cross bear the religious invocations to Bhawani and Gorakhnath, patron deities of the Shah dynasty and the Gorkha kingdom respectively. Elaborate petal-shaped lobes and scrolling arabesques fill the surrounding field, forming a lotus-like frame around the central cross. The legend is arranged in panels divided by raised ridges. The entire design is enclosed within a granulated or beaded outer border consistent with hammered coinage of the period. |
