Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square border, with the four-character legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) arranged in cruciform fashion around the hole: 常 (Sang) at top, 平 (Pyeong) at bottom, 通 (Tong) at right, and 寶 (Bo) at left, all cast in traditional Chinese regular script (楷書). The characters are bold and well-defined in relief against a flat, undecorated field. The outer rim is plain and slightly raised, consistent with standard Joseon cash coin typology.
