| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin with a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 常 (top), 通 (right), 寶 (bottom), 平 (left), forming the legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo), the standard monetary inscription of the Joseon dynasty. The characters are bold and well-defined against the flat, unadorned field, with an outer raised rim encircling the entire obverse. |

To the left of the central hole, a small circular dot (o) is visible in the field, serving as a mint or workshop mark. To the right, the character 十 (ten) denotes the series number, identifying this as Series 10 of the Yŏngyŏng Mint issue. The upper portion of the field bears a partially visible character 营 (Yŏng), the mint identifier for the Special Army Unit mint. The reverse surface shows characteristic casting texture with natural patination. |
