Candasnos is a small agricultural municipality in the province of Huesca, Aragon. During the Spanish Civil War, dozens of Aragonese villages collectivized under anarchist CNT-FAO influence and issued their own local scrip when the national currency effectively stopped functioning in Republican-held territory. The Colectividad Libre — Free Collective — was the issuing body, not a bank or municipal authority in any conventional sense, but a worker-run agricultural commune.

These village-issue scrip notes were printed in tiny quantities, often on whatever paper and printing equipment was locally available. The Gari Montaner catalogue remains the primary reference for this material precisely because so little of it entered formal numismatic channels at the time.
