Caspe, a town in Aragón, issued its own emergency currency during the Spanish Civil War — the town briefly served as the seat of the Council of Aragón, the anarchist-aligned governing body established in 1936. The original wartime peseta notes from Caspe are among the more historically loaded pieces of Spanish local emergency currency, issued under genuinely extraordinary political circumstances.

This 2003 reproduction was printed by the FNMT, Spain's official security printer, with a watermark included — an unusual level of authenticity for a commemorative replica. The original's wartime paper would carry no such feature.
