Beschrijving voorzijde Left-facing bust of George Washington, first President of the United States (1789–1797), occupies the central field. The legend 'ISLA DE PUERTO RICO' arcs along the upper periphery, while the face value 'UNA PESETA' and the date '2009' appear along the lower periphery. The motto 'EN DIOS CREEMOS' and the word 'LIBERTAD' are inscribed in the mid-field flanking the effigy, with the mint mark 'PRM' also present. The design closely echoes the style of the United States Washington quarter, adapted for this Puerto Rican fantasy issue.

Aanvullende informatie

Guayama is one of seventeen Puerto Rican municipalities honored in a coin series launched by the island's government in the late 2000s, modeled loosely on the U.S. State Quarters program. The series was struck by a private mint rather than the U.S. Mint, reflecting Puerto Rico's ambition to issue collector coinage under its own cultural identity despite having no independent monetary authority — the peseta denomination itself carrying deliberate historical resonance with the Spanish colonial currency displaced after 1898.
