Labuerda is a tiny village in the Aragonese Pyrenees — population counted in the dozens even today — and like hundreds of other Spanish municipalities, it issued its own emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after the Republican government's 1936 decree authorizing local bodies to fill the coin shortage left by hoarded silver and copper. These village-level emissions are among the most idiosyncratic objects in Spanish notaphily: production quality varies wildly, most were printed in absurdly small quantities, and redemption after the war was effectively nil.
The Gari Mon reference places this within the documented Aragonese local issues, though survival rates for Labuerda material are exceptionally low given the village's size and the disruption of the Aragon front.
