Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of George Washington, first President of the United States (1789–1797), occupies the central field. The legend 'ISLA DE PUERTO RICO' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 'UNA PESETA' and the date '2009' appear along the lower periphery. The motto 'EN DIOS CREEMOS' and the inscription 'LIBERTAD' are positioned flanking the effigy, along with the mint mark 'PRM'. The overall design echoes the aesthetic of classic Puerto Rican coinage adapted for a fantasy series.

Additional information

Puerto Rico has no monetary authority and issues no official coinage — this piece originates from the private fantasy token tradition that flourished in the early 2000s, when several Spanish-heritage territories became subjects of medallic "what if" issues marketed to collectors nostalgic for pre-1898 colonial currency. The peseta was Puerto Rico's actual unit of account under Spanish rule until the U.S. takeover following the Spanish-American War forcibly converted the island to dollars at a punishing exchange rate that wiped out local savings.

Villalba is a small inland municipality in the central cordillera, incorporated in 1917.
