| 裏面の説明 | Octagonal reverse featuring a pearl border along the outer rim and an inner rope circle enclosing the numeral '1' centered above the central perforation. The legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' arcs around the upper and lateral periphery between the pearl rim and the rope circle, identifying this token as a small-change substitute. Three decorative stars are arranged at the base of the field below the central hole, flanking the lower arc of the rope circle. |

Sandow was a small locality in Lower Lusatia, and like hundreds of similarly sized German communities, it turned to privately issued notgeld during the acute small-change shortages of World War I and its aftermath. Paul Steinbock — almost certainly a local merchant or innkeeper — had these zinc pieces struck to facilitate everyday transactions when official coinage had effectively vanished from circulation. The Hasselmann catalog documents only a single variety, suggesting limited production and a very local distribution radius.
