正面描述 The obverse is laid out in a horizontal format with the bold central inscription CENTRAL BANK OF NEW-BRUNSWICK / ONE POUND, surmounted by a Royal Arms vignette at centre. To the left, a figure of a hunter with a dog appears within an oval vignette, while intricate lathe-work guilloche panels and counters bearing the numeral 1 occupy the upper corners and right margin. A manuscript promise-to-pay text runs across the lower centre, dated Fredericton, 1 May 1847, with the printed legend President, Directors and Company across the top.

备注

New Brunswick had no chartered central bank in any modern sense — the "Central Bank of New-Brunswick" was a private commercial institution operating out of Fredericton, and its notes circulated alongside those of several competing provincial banks in an era of free banking that preceded Confederation. The 1847 date places this squarely in that pre-Dominion period when each bank printed its own currency and redemption depended entirely on the issuing institution's solvency.

The American Bank Note Company's involvement is notable: by the 1840s, ABNC had already established itself as the dominant security printer for North American commercial banks, and its intaglio work set a quality standard that discouraged counterfeiting far more effectively than earlier locally-produced issues.

The Central Bank of New-Brunswick failed before Confederation, making surviving notes scarce as redeemable obligations rather than collectibles.
