Stroma is an uninhabited island off the Caithness coast — the last permanent resident left in 1962 — and issues no currency with any legal recognition anywhere. These pieces are fantasy exonumia, produced commercially under the invented designation "Isle of Stroma" to appeal to collectors of novelty local coinage. The "Persian" name refers to the breed of cat, part of a series exploiting the enduring market for pet-themed collectibles dressed in coin format.
