Stroma is an uninhabited island off the Caithness coast — the last permanent residents left in 1962. The "Tabby" is a private fantasy issue, not legal tender, produced by individuals capitalizing on the romantic appeal of abandoned Scottish islands claiming notional sovereignty. Several such micro-nation coinage schemes emerged in the 2010s targeting novelty collectors.
