Obverse description The upper centre carries the crowned arms of Westminster Bank with supporters, below which the bank title WESTMINSTER BANK LIMITED and the legend INCORPORATED IN ENGLAND are inscribed. The body of the note presents a formal promise-to-pay text set within an intricate guilloche border, with the denomination ONE POUND stated at lower centre and the note made payable at the Douglas, Isle of Man office in terms of the Act of Tynwald.
Obverse lettering WESTMINSTER BANK LIMITED INCORPORATED IN ENGLAND PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND ONE POUND AT THIS OFFICE ONLY IN TERMS OF ACT OF TYNWALD DOUGLAS ONE POUND
Reverse description Printed in dark blue on a light ground, the reverse is centred on an oval vignette enclosing the Isle of Man triskele, encircled by the Manx motto QUOCUNQUE JECERIS STABIT. Elaborate guilloche rosettes flank the vignette on both sides, each bearing the sterling numeral £1. The bank name and head office address at 41, Lothbury, London appear at upper centre, with ONE POUND lettered across the lower panel and the Waterlow & Sons imprint at the foot.
