Milk tokens printed on coloured paper were the dominant form of doorstep dairy accounting in the British Isles well into the 1970s, with individual dairies commissioning small print runs from local trade printers. Wright Litho. Co. Ltd. operated out of Jersey and handled a significant share of the island's commercial print work, making this a locally produced token rather than an import from a mainland security printer.
Jersey's dairy industry operated under separate regulatory frameworks from the UK, which kept Channel Island milk tokens outside the scope of British currency legislation entirely.
