Gabon has never used the rand. The rand is the currency of South Africa, issued by the South African Reserve Bank. No legitimate Gabonese coinage carries this denomination — Gabon uses the Central African CFA franc, tied to the French Treasury since 1945. This piece is almost certainly a fantasy coin or novelty strike with no official issuing authority behind it.
