Obverse description Central field dominated by a stylized conch shell (sankha), a sacred Hindu symbol, rendered in bold relief with a prominent curved body, flanked by volute scrolls and surmounted by a large curved horn or spout at the top. The lower portion of the conch displays a series of vertical striations flanked by pellets, representing the shell's ridged surface. A cluster of pellets appears to the right of the central motif, adding decorative detail. The entire design is enclosed within a broad border of large raised pellets arranged in a continuous circle, characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Cochin region under VOC administration.
