| Obverse description | Central device depicts a fasces with a Phrygian cap at its apex, flanked on either side by a cornucopia overflowing with produce, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel and grain. The circular legend around the periphery reads ECUADOR EN COLOMBIA, with the mint name QUITO inscribed in the lower field. The overall design reflects the republican symbolism of the Gran Colombia era, rendered in a bold, slightly primitive provincial style. |

| Reverse description | Central device features two volcanoes rising from the lower field, above which radiates a large rayed sun with a human face, flanked by the denomination numeral 1 R in the field to either side. The encircling legend EL PODER EN LA CONSTITUCI. runs along the upper periphery, with the date and assayer initials 1833 G.J. positioned in the lower exergue. The design conveys constitutional republican ideals through bold, emblematic imagery characteristic of early Ecuadorian coinage. |
