| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Royal Arms of Spain — a quartered shield bearing the castles of Castile and lions of León — surmounted by an elaborate royal crown. The shield is rendered in a bold, early milled style characteristic of the first Mexican pillar coinage patterns. The circular Latin legend reads PHILIP·V·D·G·HISPAET·IND·REX, identifying Philip V by the Grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies, distributed evenly around the periphery with pellet separators. |
