The shield is rendered in a bold, early milled style characteristic of the first Mexican pillar coinage patterns. The circular Latin legend reads PHILIP·V·D·G·HISPAET·IND·REX, identifying Philip V by the Grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies, distributed evenly around the periphery with pellet separators. |

The date 1732 is prominently placed in the lower exergual area, while the circular Latin legend VTRAQUE VNUM — meaning 'Both as One,' alluding to the union of the Old and New Worlds — runs along the upper periphery, punctuated by small star or rosette separators. |
