Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse displays the quartered royal arms of Castile and León surmounted by an open crown, struck in the characteristic cob (macuquina) style with irregular flan edges typical of hammered colonial coinage. The shield is divided into four quarters: castles (Castile) in the upper-left and lower-right, and rampant lions (León) in the upper-right and lower-left, with a central escutcheon. The assayer mark and mint mark AP appear to the left of the shield, with the oB assayer initial also present in the field. A partial Latin legend, reading PHILLIPVS DE, runs along the coin's periphery, though much of it is off-flan due to the cob striking method.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a bold quartered cross with a plain cross pattée dividing the field into four equal quadrants, each displaying alternating castles and lions consistent with the arms of Castile and León, rendered in the rough, hand-struck style of cob coinage. An ornate tressure or border of pellets frames the irregular periphery. The partial Latin legend ET INDIARVM REX, denoting Philip II's sovereignty over the Indies, is visible along the rim, though characteristically incomplete due to the flan limitations of the macuquina production method. The overall strike exhibits the bold, irregular relief typical of late sixteenth-century Spanish colonial hammered coinage.
