A portrait vignette of Queen Elizabeth II in tiara is positioned to the left of centre, with the denomination ONE RUPEE in an ornate central panel below the issuer title. The legal tender clause appears in English at upper right, with the date and two facsimile signatures at lower centre; trilingual legends in Sinhala, English, and Tamil run along the bottom margin.

背面描述	Printed in blue on a pale guilloche ground, the reverse carries a large intaglio vignette of the Audience Hall steps at the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) in Kandy, occupying the right half of the note. The issuer title and denomination appear at the top in English, with the value numeral "1" in the upper right corner; trilingual legends in Sinhala and Tamil are set at lower left, and the printer's imprint of Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. runs along the bottom margin.
