Opmerkingen

Pakistan's 1 Rupee notes from this period occupy an odd position in South Asian monetary history. After Partition in 1947, the new Pakistani state initially used overprinted Reserve Bank of India notes while its own currency infrastructure was established. By the time this series was issued, Government of Pakistan 1 Rupee notes were signed by the Finance Secretary rather than any central bank governor — a deliberate distinction that classified them as government legal tender instruments, not bank-issued currency.

The Bangladesh connection in the catalog attribution reflects the note's continued acceptance in East Pakistan, which became Bangladesh in 1971. Pre-liberation Pakistani currency circulated briefly into the early independence period before being demonetized.
