| Opmerkingen |
The Residency of Aceh issued this note in 1947 as part of a locally produced emergency currency series during the Indonesian National Revolution. With Dutch forces pressing the Republic of Indonesia hard during this period, and central supply of nationally printed notes unreliable in outlying regions, individual residencies were authorized to produce their own scrip. Aceh in particular had been an early and fierce supporter of independence, having resisted Dutch colonial reoccupation more effectively than almost any other region.
The printing was done locally in Koetaradja — a striking fact given the conditions of wartime production. Paper quality and registration on surviving examples varies sharply within the series.
