The PRRI — Pemerintah Revolusioner Republik Indonesia — was a rebel government declared in Sumatra in February 1958 by military officers and politicians opposed to Sukarno's centralization of power and his accommodation of the PKI. It was never recognized internationally, and its military position collapsed within roughly a year under pressure from the Indonesian Army, though guerrilla resistance dragged on into the early 1960s.
That this note carries a 1959 date places it squarely in the regime's twilight. Printing facilities available to the PRRI were limited, and the currency had negligible circulation outside the territories briefly under rebel control.
