Issued during the Indonesian National Revolution, these notes were produced by the Republic as it fought for recognition against Dutch reassertion of colonial control following Japan's surrender. The Republican government operated under severe material constraints, and the printing quality across this series reflects that — paper sources and ink consistency vary noticeably between batches.
