| 表面の説明 | A bunch of grapes rendered in high relief, depicted with characteristic rounded lobes suggesting individual fruit clusters, centrally positioned within the field. The motif is boldly cast and occupies the majority of the flan, consistent with the aes grave tradition of Central Italian bronze coinage. The surface shows the typical rough, granular texture associated with sand-cast production. No legend or inscription is present. |

The semuncia denomination — a half-uncia, one twenty-fourth of the as — belongs to the heavy cast bronze coinage produced across central Italy before Rome's aes grave system fully absorbed regional minting. The attribution to an uncertain city reflects genuine scholarly disagreement: Thurlow and Vecchi assigned this type cautiously, and the ICC corpus has not resolved the issuing authority with confidence. Campanian and Samnite candidates have both been proposed.
Cast rather than struck, these pieces were produced in clay molds, sometimes in strings. The precise city behind HN Italy 398 remains unidentified.
