Volaterrae — modern Volterra — was among the northernmost Etruscan cities to produce a bronze coinage, and its output was modest enough that the full Club series survives in very small numbers across public collections. The sextans, as the one-twelfth fraction of the as, was among the lower denominations in the cast bronze system, which means it circulated hard and survivors in this condition are genuinely scarce.
