Obverse description Draped bust of William III facing right, occupying the central field of this contemporary counterfeit struck to pass as a George II shilling. The effigy is crudely rendered compared to official Royal Mint coinage, reflecting the limitations of the forger's die-cutting. A Latin legend encircles the bust, reading GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA, erroneously identifying the portrait as William III rather than George II. The coin bears a small drilled suspension hole at the top, suggesting it was at some point worn as an ornament or token.
