The encircling Latin legend reads M.B.F.ET.H.REX.F.D.B.ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T.ET.E, an abbreviated form of the full royal titulature. A partial date beginning 174 is visible in the exergue or legend area, with the final digit lost to wear, consistent with a date in the 1740s. The overall execution is notably inferior to genuine Royal Mint coinage, with weak relief and irregular die work characteristic of contemporary forgeries. The silver plating over a copper flan is a telltale sign of this class of counterfeit. |
