Reverse description A finely detailed kiwi (Apteryx) stands facing left atop a naturalistic mound of earth, its distinctive long bill and dense feathered plumage rendered with great sculptural precision by George Kruger Gray. The central device is framed by an oval cartouche adorned with Maori-inspired koru scrollwork motifs flanking the bird at left and right. The legend NEW ZEALAND arcs across the upper field, while the denomination ONE SHILLING and the date 1933 are inscribed along the lower periphery, all enclosed within a beaded border.
